After a walk over to the transport museum (merely passing the time) I got back to the station to see what was happening. A steam loco was sat in the yard, apparently a Black Five (I'm not too hot on steam locos), ready to enter the platform with its train. As I was about to cross the footbridge, an enormous cloud of steam erupted around the loco, completely blocking her from view. When I realised that the cloud was actually moving, I positioned myself ready to take a photo of when she emerged from the gargantuan cloud. This eventually happened around 70 feet before the end of the platform, and I'm just hoping that the picture comes out OK- I had some camera problems over the weekend.

Taking this train up to Ramsbottom, I caught 45135 back to Bury. D7076 once again stood in for Western Prince, and once again good thrash was had. The next performer was Onslaught again, with D335 and D5600 finishing the weekend on a high. After a miserable journey home courtesy of Wales & West taking me to Crewe via Stoke (? - this was from Manchester!!) and an engineering possession meaning a substitution bus between Rhyl and Llandudno Junction, I collapsed into a hot bath. Deciding that nostalgia can be much more appealing than reality, I fell into a deep sleep. My conclusion? The weekend was worth the exhaustion, and here's hoping that next year sees a repeat event!
